Liberty gets her braces!

For a little while Liberty has been waiting to find out whether she would be needing to have some braces put in or not.  Liberty was born with a top incisor tooth missing. After a few trips to the dentist she found out that she could have braces. This would move her other teeth around to make room for her missing "false" tooth to be put in later. She had a few choices, she could have had them put in now, wait a few years or not have any at all. So Liberty decided that she wanted to have them put in sooner rather than later and after just a few weeks of waiting Liberty has finally got her braces, she even got to choose the colour...
Before her braces...

Liberty went with Mum and Dad to the Orthodontist and had the braces put in just last week and is doing well with them. Liberty has got a new strict diet though...

"Having braces can be fun but also tricky as I can't eat everything I'd like too. I can't eat toffees, biscuits or sweet things. Fizzy drinks are the biggest problem if you have braces."

"It's been good that I can't have fizzy drinks and too much sugar though. I'm happy that at the end of having them I will hopefully have perfectly straight teeth."

"Also, my dentist had a brace and her teeth are now really nice and straight too, so I know it's going to be worth having the braces and missing out on some foods."

"One of my favourite things that I can eat now instead of other foods is eating frozen Mango and Smoothie lollies. I also like to make my own ice lollies too."

  1. Having braces may be painful, but Liberty definitely made the right decision to put it sooner. Receiving an early treatment will guide the growth of her jaw, to help the permanent teeth to be straightly aligned, and avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions in the future. Take care!
