Whether you're at the table waiting for dinner or have friends over but need a 'quiet' game to play, here is a great game for kids of any age to have fun with! We've found it to be a fun way of learning 'self control'.
Proverbs 16:32
32 Better a patient person than a warrior, those with self-control than those who take a city.
Proverbs 25:28 (#2 of 5 Bible Verses about Self-Control)
28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

Galatians 5:22-24 (#3 of 5 Bible Verses about Self-Control)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

Titus 2:11-14 (#4 of 5 Bible Verses about Self-Control)
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope-the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

2 Peter 1:3-8 (#5 of 5 Bible Verses about Self-Control)
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mums and Dads can use this throughout the day too, for example if the phone rings or if they need to get your attention quickly.
You can play this with 3 or more players, but to be able to play this properly I'd say have at least 5 people playing, but anyway, here's how it works!

'The Light System' is made of a group of lights, each with a different meaning. The leader (or whoever has been placed in charge) may call out any light of their choice and everyone must do what that light means. Here's a list of all the light's colours, with their meaning for you, so that you know. It may take some practice to get to know them all.
. Green light...
Is a free light where you can move, talk, and be 'normal'.
.Orange light ...
Means that you may move, but you must whisper whenever you need to talk.
.Yellow light...
Is 'slow motion light. This one is a bit a laugh!

.Red light...
Is when you must be silent and not make any noise, whether you're talking or tapping the table for example.

.Purple light...
Is 'freeze' light. When this is called out, everyone must not move. This light can be rather funny as to some of the faces that people are pulling when frozen!

.Black light...
Is an emergency light that I would recommend that you don't do too often. Everyone playing must freeze, hold their breath, and close their eyes.

And just for a laugh....Blue light...
This light we have to call out for an Ambulence if it's been on 'Black light' for too long!
Just joking! We don't use this one thankfully!

Now you know the basics and how we play, you can make up your own lights. You could also have this rather than just a game, you could randomly call out one of the lights through out the day.
Have plenty of fun playing this game! Leave some comments and let us know how it goes!
Hope to hear from you all soon,
The Shepherds!
