Full Name:
Deborah Pearl Shepherd
1. What do you prefer a manicure or pedicure?
Actually Pedicure, I'm not that keen on finger nails painted on myself. They look lovely on others, I just don't like the feel of it.
2. Do you like having you hair done?
NO! I can't stand people touching my hair, it actually hurts! You have got very good at cutting it for me though, thank you Charis!
3. What do you think annoys people the most about you?
I love eating ice and as soon as someone has some ready I eat it!
4. What is your favourite book of the Bible and verse?
Almost impossible to answer that. Verse would be Matthew 28 v 20 as that was one of the earliest ones I memorized. Book? No idea, too many are special. Actually Matt 28v20 solves my fear of being alone!!!!! (see question 12)
5. Favourite worship leader?
I have to thank Tom for introducing me to Jason Upton. He's amazing.
6. Favourite teacher?
Again very difficult to answer, but of course there have been several people over the years, that have said things to guide me. My Mother being the first and foremost, she's a wonderful example to me, and as she ages, never ceases to amaze me, I am still enjoying learning from her! (Thanks Mum:) )
My Children as they have grown through the different stages in life have 'taught' me the most, on how to be a parent and a better person. They've revealed so much about God to me through things that they have learned in their own walks with God. This starts very young, listen to them when they are little, they'll amaze you.
I really enjoy Jimmy Evans at the moment. Thanks to a dear friend in California for sharing him with us.
7. What has been some of the hardest moments being a Christian?
Oh well, that is a huge question, I think the hardest thing has been other Christians hating you. That seems so strange to me. Psalm 56 comes to mind. Also having your family turn against you for your faith.
8. Favourite colour?
Blue.
9. Favourite Season?
Autumn....Spring....either one, but then winter is so beautiful too, and Summer has so much fun in it. Can't decide.
10. Favourite movie?
I have never been able to choose this either. Depends on the day you watch it really. I like all sorts. I have watched movies I probably would never have seen without the boys growing up and again romantic comedies I would have missed without the girls growing up. I have my family to thank for so many things. I do like true stories though.
11. What birth had longest and hardest labour?
Tom's the longest (27 3/4 hours) and and Ike's the hardest I think, although he was little at only 8lb 1oz.
12. What silly things scare you?
Oh gosh, weak spot, I am scared of lots of things really, I know pray for me.
The dark, driving, big spiders, being alone, (I mean really alone) public speaking, sadly many more....
1. Steve has a great love for Alaska so to visit there with him would be amazing.
2. Share Jesus with my family or anyone and see them saved that minute you pray with them and hear them pray in tongues or shout, dance, anything except say nothing.
3. Dance , really dance, without a step wrong.
14. What is your favourite thing about being a wife and mother?
Another question I can't answer......Wife:- Awesome, Awesome Awesome, loving every minute of it, never found it hard like the "books" keep telling me. Having your best friend with you all the time. Mother:- So overwhelmingly fantastic, gets better and better. Each age and stage I enjoy more and more. I really appreciate the younger ones, as I now know how quickly the years go by!
15. Can you play any instruments?
Ha ha, no. I used to play recorder in school, but have forgotten since.
16. If you could choose one to learn how to play what would it be?
Piano
17. What is your favourite thing to cook and eat?
I like to cook but for a few years now the kitchen has been invaded by budding chefs of all descriptions. I still enjoy Italian food to cook and eat. I don't like making desserts or very precise things like intricately decorated cakes and things. The best I could do would be a rhubarb crumble or similar. Something that wouldn't notice if it was scruffy.
18. What things do you surprise people with the most?
Hum, I am not a person of any hidden talents really. I always surprise people when they find out that I have 14 children though.
19. What is your most favourite place that you ever been too?
Well, I have been so blessed to have been to some really wonderful places. (Sorry I am realising that I am no good at interviews....)
Sorrento Italy (honeymoon) maybe? So many beautiful places...
Thanks for doing the interview, Mum! You're answers were very interesting and I am surprised, so that helps answer question 18!
Not one for hidden talents??! You're joking! You sang at the Royal Albert Hall solo! You won the shirt ironing competition, completed several running races and are excellent with a whisk! Ok, so the last one only you will get the joke! R xxx
